The client is a Fortune 500 company in the process of merging two business units. The individual business units already shared some common services but multiple functional departments required consolidation. The client was seeking a strategic plan that would quickly move through the inefficiencies of reorganization to improved business results.
We facilitated the development of a business unit strategic plan. Structural changes were made. The plan was cascaded through the functional units down to individual departments. Personal objectives were aligned with the strategic plan. Key areas of improvement in organizational capabilities were identified and remediation plans implemented.
All objectives for the first year after consolidation were met. The strategic planning process was continued and deployed throughout the rest of the enterprise. Operating profit for the consolidated business unit at the end of the first full fiscal year was up over 10 percent.
