The client had as a key business imperative the commercial introduction of a new medical device. The program involved a supply chain crossing three continents with multiple suppliers and convertors. The client needed to improve their product development process to be able to control the design in compliance with regulatory requirements.
We worked with the client to modify their existing design control procedures to accommodate the complexity of the program. We identified places where the process could be simplified. Using collateral the covered the range from high level models to specific forms we developed the capability among the project team to self perform this work.
The project met its design objectives. Practices we established were adopted by the organization as procedures to be followed on future projects of this type. The new product stabilized declining annual sales in the category at $200,000,000.
